There are some weekends that leave you tired…and then there are the ones that leave you full.
Essence Festival was one of those moments for me.
Everywhere I turned, there was inspiration. Seeing creators whose journeys I’ve followed for years, actresses whose work I’ve admired, artists whose music has been the soundtrack to different seasons of my life it honestly felt surreal. And while those moments were incredible, one thing that never gets old is meeting all of you.
Whether we stopped for a quick hug, took a picture together, or had the chance to have a real conversation, thank you. Your support is something I never take for granted. Being reminded that this community extends far beyond a screen is one of my favorite parts of what I do.
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was having the opportunity to speak on Target’s panel alongside one of my best friends. It was one of those full-circle moments where you pause and think, “Wow…this is real.” To be trusted with that platform, to share my journey, and to hopefully encourage someone else in the audience was an experience I’ll always be grateful for.
And can we talk about the activations?
Every brand showed up in the best way. From immersive experiences to thoughtful details, there was something exciting around every corner. You could feel the energy, the creativity, and the intention behind every space. It reminded me why Essence Fest continues to be one of the most anticipated weekends of the year.
But beyond the panels, the parties, and the photo opportunities, what stood out the most was the culture.
There’s something incredibly special about being surrounded by so much Black excellence, creativity, entrepreneurship, talent, and joy all in one place. Watching people celebrate each other, support one another, and simply exist in spaces created for us is something that’s hard to put into words.
That’s the magic of Essence.
I left inspired, motivated, and so grateful to be part of this community. Every conversation, every connection, every laugh, every hug it all reminded me why I love what I do.
To everyone I met this weekend, thank you for making it unforgettable.
Until next year, Essence.
I’m already counting down.
