There’s something really special about intentionally pressing pause on life for a moment… especially as parents, business owners, and honestly just two people constantly pouring into everyone else around us.
So for our 6 year wedding anniversary, Cory and I did exactly that.
We escaped to Miami for a few days to decompress, reconnect, laugh, rest, and simply enjoy each other without schedules, school drop-offs, emails, or “Mommmm!” every five minutes.
And honestly? It was needed more than we even realized.
Miami has always been one of those places that just feels good. The energy, the weather, the food, the ocean views… it never disappoints. It’s fun without trying too hard, relaxing while still giving luxury, and somehow always manages to reset us mentally.
This trip was less about packed itineraries and more about being present. Sleeping in a little longer, slow mornings, long conversations, good food, spontaneous laughs, and remembering that before we were mom and dad… we were just US.
We stayed at 1 Hotel South Beach and it was honestly the perfect vibe for this trip. Calm, beautiful, peaceful, and just the right mix of luxury and wellness. From the beachfront views to the atmosphere itself, it made slowing down feel easy.
Some of my favorite moments weren’t even the big ones. They were the quiet moments. Sitting together with no distractions. Dinner date. Laughing at absolutely nothing. Recharging.
Marriage after kids, careers, responsibilities, and real life takes intention. And if I’ve learned anything over these six years, it’s that reconnecting doesn’t always have to be extravagant. Sometimes it’s simply creating space to breathe together again.
Year 6 looked good on us.
Here’s to more love, more laughter, more grace for one another, and more moments where we choose each other over and over again.
