We’ve been soaking up the joy, growth, and new experiences this season brings, so it felt like the perfect time to share a little life update from our crew.
Cory:
Cory is heading into his second year as a coach with the Dallas Mavericks, and we couldn’t be prouder. He’s living out his dream while still being the most present and active dad ever. One of the things he always said was that he wanted to stay connected to basketball — but only if our family could be nearby. Seeing that come to life is a true testament to the power of speaking things into existence.
Coming from a military family, Cory’s natural instinct is to be a protective, hands-on parent (if it were up to him, the kids would live in a bubble forever). But he’s learning to give them space to take risks and try new things — even if it makes him a little nervous.
JaLisa:
This season, I’ve been falling back in love with traveling and everything it does for my mental health. After years of pregnancies and postpartum seasons, this is the first summer in a long time that I feel fully free to explore and say yes. Yes to new experiences, yes to adventures, yes to work opportunities — and yes to meeting a new version of myself along the way.
Harper (4):
Our little leader! Harper takes her role as big sister very seriously. She can now count to 30 in Spanish and identify all the planets (we’re still wondering if she’ll be our little scientist). Her days are filled with bows, headbands, and hair accessories — and lately, she’s been gardening with her “Matwo.” Favorite colors? Gold, blue, and purple. Favorite snacks? Danimals Yogurt, blackberries, cake pops… and yes, she listens to Christmas music all year long.
Zhuri (3):
Zhuri is truly her own person — marching to the beat of her own drum. She’s getting more comfortable with family photos and recently graduated to the Children’s House program, where she’s thriving with 3- to 6-year-olds. Her vocabulary, social skills, and (yes) attitude are all blossoming. Favorite color? HOT pink. Favorite style? Anything girly — glittery boots, tutus, you name it. She’s also obsessed with croissants, “spicy water” (sparkling water), Honey Nut Cheerios, and a touch of sparkle in her day.
Cory II (1):
Our gentle giant is now officially in the toddler class and loving it. He’s obsessed with pointing out animals and colors and never misses an opportunity to wave or talk to strangers — especially kids. At just one year old, he’s already wearing a size 5T and 12C shoes (please send prayers for our shoe budget). His favorite things right now? Spider-Man, Superman, Once Upon a Farm pouches, and Welch’s fruit snacks.
The Jefferson crew is thriving, growing, and stepping into exciting new chapters. We’re so grateful for the blessings in this season and can’t wait to see all the beautiful things our family will experience together.
